Day 2 - H.S. & Day 3 - Gr. 7 & 8

WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

HAVE A PEACEFUL AND BLESSED EASTER WEEKEND.

Easter Triduum

The Church remembers the death and resurrection of Jesus during the Easter Triduum. These three days are the most important time of the Church year.

  • Mass of the Lord's Supper
On Holy Thursday we remember the Last Supper. Because Holy Thursday is a feast day of the Blessed Sacrament, there is a procession of the Eucharist after the Mass to an altar of repose set up for the occasion. Then the main altar is stripped bare.

  • Good Friday
On Good Friday we remember the death of Jesus. According to an ancient custom, Mass is not celebrated on this day or before the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. The celebration of the Lord's passion and death takes place in the afternoon.

  • Easter Vigil
On Holy Saturday the Church meditates on the suffering and death of Jesus. Then the Church gathers to celebrate the Easter Vigil.

Where Can You Go to Celebrate the Easter Triduum:

  • ST. ANDREW PARISH

    • Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper: 7:30 p.m.

    • On Good Friday: - Stations of the Cross: 1:30 p.m. - Service:  3:00 p.m.

    • Saturday Easter Vigil Mass: 7:30 p.m.

    • Easter Sunday Mass: 8:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.

  • Kanata 25th Annual Good Friday Walk of the Cross

    • This year’s Walk of the Cross is being hosted by St. Paul’s Anglican Church. The Walk will begin at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 20 Young Road (near Hazeldean Road) at 12 noon and there is plenty of parking and facilities.

  • Good Friday Social Justice Way of the Cross.

    • St. Joseph Parish, 151 Laurier Ave East. 10:30am. Meet in the church parking lot. This lasts approximately until 12noon. Teens find this particularly meaningful. (DH –Apr 1)
